Hemerocallis 'Stafford' is a very popular variety. The sunny red flowers
are held high above the foliage on 30" scapes (stems). It is a very reliable
plant, producing numerous buds on each scape. It looks magnificent in bold
groupings, displayed in the herbaceous border, and is therefore a good choice
for garden designers.
Stafford not only increases quickly, it will also proliferate, producing new plantlets on the scapes themselves. Sometimes small pseudo roots develop at the base of each proliferation. These can be detached from the stem and rooted in a suitable moist rooting compost.
